About VÂN SCOTT

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical mems are a swirl of Disney soundtracks. My piano teacher got very frustrated because I didn't want to play the Easy Piano version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" by Elton John. So she told me to take voice lessons instead. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Billy Joel, The Stranger (Remastered) MUTEMATH, MuteMath (Deluxe Version) Taylor Swift, folklore (deluxe version) I will always be indebted to the 70s music icons. Billy Joel made me want to be a Piano Man too. Mutemath really expanded my musical palette and also taught me what a live show could look like. And T Swift just has an absolute gift for storytelling. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Starry Eyed” I wrote this song for my best friend. We both worked at a church together before he chose to come out of the closet. He thought that would mean the end of our friendship, but I wanted him to know that I still loved him and wasn't going anywhere. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Right before the pandemic hit, I got to perform at The Oscars as a background singer with Cynthia Erivo. Not only was I backstage with Elton John, but I also performed right in front of Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio! Def one of the coolest moments ever. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've performed at the Hollywood Bowl 4 times, sung with Danny Elfman at his Christmas party, backed John Legend on The Voice, played tennis with James Valentine of Maroon 5 and almost fainted...but I still dream of being the opening act for Coldplay!
